Studyzone: the exam-prep platform we once needed ourselves
While helping younger siblings and friends prepare for secondary-school entrance exams, we noticed two things: schools have plenty of worksheets, but not enough meaningful feedback, and most online preparation feels dull, confusing and unmotivating.
We decided to build something we would have wanted as ninth-graders. That became Studyzone, a modern platform for preparing for Czech language and mathematics entrance exams.
The client and the challenge
Client: Studyzone — our own educational project for ninth-graders.
BetterWeb's role: product, strategy, branding, website development and the entire application.
What we wanted to solve:
- Offer more than another dull test: a system that guides students towards their goal, step by step.
- Combine practice tests with an AI coach that explains mistakes in plain language and encourages students to keep learning.
- Build a platform for hundreds, and eventually thousands, of students without overwhelming administrators and teachers.
- Connect marketing, content and product, from TikTok and Instagram to onboarding inside the app.
Our solution
1. A website that speaks to students and parents
We designed the Studyzone homepage so that:
- Students immediately understand the benefits: better exam preparation, a clear path forward and instant feedback.
- Parents can see a thoughtful preparation system, not just another collection of worksheets.
- Tests, the AI coach, progress tracking and premium content are clearly presented, with previews and real results.
The website supports:
- Collecting enquiries and registrations.
- Premium subscriptions.
- Integration with the internal admin system and user database.
2. Meaningful practice, not just another PDF
At the heart of Studyzone is a database of tests and exercises:
- We focus on the types of questions students will face in entrance exams, rather than random exercises.
- Students can choose full tests, topic-based practice or exercises targeting weaker areas.
- Every attempt is saved, so students and parents can see past attempts, success rates, mistakes and progress over time.
3. An AI coach that explains like a teacher, not a robot
We wanted an incorrect answer to lead to more than a simple “wrong”. Students should get:
- An explanation of why it was wrong.
- A worked example of the right approach.
- A tip to avoid the same mistake next time.
So we developed an AI coach that:
- Works with the specific question and the student's answer.
- Adapts its explanations, from concise answers to step-by-step guidance.
- Helps with Czech grammar, interpretation and spelling.
- Breaks down mathematical solutions into individual steps.
This makes Studyzone feel more like a personal coach than a test database.
4. Progress tracking for students, parents and our team
We designed the platform so that:
- Students can see their strongest and weakest areas.
- They get a clear sense of how prepared they are for the type of school they want to attend.
- Our team can understand how students learn: which questions cause the most difficulty and where another explanation or video would help.
It all runs on a backend designed to grow with traffic and user numbers.
Brand and community: making Studyzone a brand students love
Studyzone isn't just a testing website. It's a community:
- We've built a following of over 7,000 people on social media, sharing exam preparation, motivation and ways to manage stress.
- More than 1,150 registered students use the app for structured preparation.
- Its visual identity is modern, friendly and easy to understand: a companion on the way to a dream school, not another school office.
Results
- 7,000+ social media followers, grown organically without large campaigns.
- 1,150+ registered students who have used the tests and AI explanations.
- Thousands of completed tests and answers that help us improve the content and AI coach.
- Evidence that a website, a useful application and a strong brand can turn exam preparation into something students recommend to their friends.
For us, Studyzone shows what happens when product thinking, technology and branding come together: a service with a real impact on people's lives — in this case, their future school.
